well the way i pick best answer is if someone says PICK ME PICK ME 10 POINTS..you should do the same...if i ask a question that i need an answer to, i choose the one that works, and whoever said it first, gets the points..if i tell a joke, i pick the best response..i dont think there is much etiquette behind it...i mean, this is only yahoo answers, not dinner with the queen of england

I have neither written a response to a best answer vote nor received a response when I have voted someone's answer as best. But, I didn't expect to get a thanks when I voted for the best answers, so I guess that's why I never thought that I might need to send one when mine was chosen. I guess you should just do what you want to where that is concerned. It is never wrong to be polite, so if you want to say thanks you could do so by replying or by adding it to your answer.

I'll usually say thank you in the comment section. I don't know if that is official etiquette, but that's just what I do.

Just say thank you. Plain, simple, and it shows that you feel well appreciated. If you can email them that is. If you care this much, I would definately do it. It's just a nice thing to do, and it's considerate people like you that we need more of on this planet. Have a nice day. :-)

If their "best answer comment" warrants it, I reply to that. If it's just "thx" or whatever, I don't reply, but will use this opportunity to say thanks to you all for awarding me all those best answers.
