I am very grateful to have had two severely disabled aunts when I was growing up - not grateful that they were in pain, but grateful to see how they worked around it, overcame it, achieved so much - college, careers, etc.
Also I am grateful for a gift they gave me which is the ability to look beyond disabilities when I see them in others - to consider the needs of specially abled people, without condescending to them or assuming they can't do anything.
Thank you Mary and Martha, and may you rest in peace.

Mostly everyone knows someone who has a disability. Since a disibility can be anything from being partially deaf to havin a pin in your leg and unable to work. Also a person who has arthritis can be considered to be disabled under certain circumstances.
my mom is deaf and my dad has a pin in his leg. So yes I know people who are disabled.

Yes I know a lot, both mental and physical.
On my Mums side, my Nan is schitzophrenic, my grandad had depression and was an alcoholic and on drugs before he committed suicide, and his second wife was an alcoholic and died.
On my Dads side, My Nan has severe depression.
At my drama group on the Friday session, more then half the class has a disability.
