She won't forget you, but don't expect her to feel the same way about you when you return...that will take time.

Here is my personal story:
My dog was 2 years old when I began dating my boyfriend. My boyfriend and I broke up, and stayed apart (we didn't speak at all) for a year and 1/2. When we started talking again I wondered if my dog would recognize him when he came over for a visit. My dog is always happy to see visitors, but he absolutely flipped out when my boyfriend came over! It was almost obsessive...he followed him around and would lay on his feet if he sat down. It's safe to say that my dog remembered him and missed him a lot!

She won't forget you... I was gone for about two years traveling, when I came home, both dogs were very happy to see me! I think it was harder to leave the dogs than the rest of my family, at least my family understood where I was going! I could talk to my family on the phone. I understand why your worried, but they'll remember you when you come home and will be happy to see you!

No- she'll remember you...what you can do is ask your Mom to put the phone up to the dogs ear when you call while you're away. I'm sure she'll be depressed and glad to hear your voice. Is it a small dog? Seems the small dogs take it a lot harder than the big dopey ones. (meant in the nicest way!) Ciao!

In the mythic tale "The Odyssey", Ulysses returns home from war, while suitors are vying for the affections of his wife. Nobody has seen Ulysses in years, and to top things off, he disguises himself as an old man to make sure nobody (including his own wife) recognizes him. He performs a skill that only the great Ulysses could do, and eventually wins the hand of his wife once again. The entire time, nobody knew who he was, except for his dog, who recognized him the moment he saw his master again.

No, she won't forget you. She will always remember how you smell and how you move around. If you are her ultimate Leader of the Pack, She will act exactly the same as though you have never left!
But if your relationship with her is a bit shaky, she might not respect you once you come home.

How old is your dog right now? She will not likely forget you, however, you will not be her #1 when you come back. ...or it is unlikely. With some time and training, she could your dog again. You will both have to work it when you return.

I don't think your dog will forget you. Why not make a toy out of some old bathrobe or some article of clothing that will leave your scent, just in case.
