The supply chain goes something like this:

Manufacturer - Wholesaler/Distributor - Retailer - End User

Volume is the key. The manufacturer prefers to sell to wholesalers because they buy in high volumes and therefore they can buy at a lower price. This format trickles down the supply chain, all the way to the end user. If you are looking for products you can buy then sell on eBay, you probably won't buy direct from the manufacturer. Wholesalers are your best chance but they prefer to deal in high volumes. Depending on the product, the mark up from wholesaler and retailer is 30% each. Good luck

There is no simple answer. Some people are selling things that they steal from their employer. Others are selling things from their own business. Some are in the liquidation business and have contacts for closeout merchandise. There are those who are selling products obtained through normal channels. Every type of product has a traditional supply chain and method for going to market.
