as a Catholic cantor I know many dozens of Priests personally who are fed up with the wrong media messages that are doing the rounds about celibacy, all the Priests that I know love their calling and accept the gift of celibacy with joy, a small percentage of Priests have been used as the voice of all the Priesthood and denounced celibacy and this is not indicative of the vast majority.

Jesus was celibate. Priest are celibate in His example. Jesus was not married, priest are not to marry.
Biblical Proof for celibacy
Eph 5:21-23, Mt 19:12, Jer 16:1-4, 1 Cor 7:8, 1 Cor 7:32-35,
1 Tim 5:9-12.
Celibacy is a discipline, not a doctrine of the Church. Yet, our history has proven outright the problem of the married priesthood and nepotism in the presbytery.

To believe this, you would have to put Apostles on the same level as Jesus Christ.
This is not the case, at least biblically. The Apostle Peter, whom the church insists is their first pope was in fact, biblically married.
IT is assumed that the Apostle Paul was also married, but not at the time he became an Apostle to Jesus Christ. The main thought here is that Paul was a member of the San Hedron and those members were married as part of their rights to membership.
Jesus Christ is in fact part of the God head and therefore our creator, not our equal nor the equal of our teachers. There is no biblical basis for requiring that a teacher at any level not be married. The Apostle Paul did say that it was his opinion that none should be married, but stressed that it was his opinion and that God was allowing him to state his heart.
God created marriage, and the father of all nations Abraham was married also. There is much more biblical basis for marriage of teachers, pastors than there is against it, as the only written word against it is from Paul and he states that it is simply his opinon.
All of this is directly from the bible and I urge you to read it on your own to test the truth of what I write.

You REALLY have to lay off the drugs for a few days before you enter these questions. It takes half the day to make any sense out of them. Jesus was NEVER married, except in that stupid DaVinci Code. Peter WAS married, as were several of the other apostles.

Orthodox priests marry, they are better able to minister to married people.
Catholic priests used to marry, don't now. Pity for the Catholics.

Christ was a celibate. He was pure of heart, his flesh and of his spirit. He was never involved in carnal sins or sins of the flesh. This is what makes Him truly special and different.
He is a real tough act to follow. And he said, " Anyone who wants to follow me, should deny himself, pick up his cross, and follow me."
It is no joke to be a Roman Catholic priest, for the act alone is true sacrifice of self denial..
