Okay...I know this may sound vain, that or I'm too paranoid, but why is that when I walk into a room people just stare, or just anywhere at a bbq, a party, I'll catch women and men just,I mean it's too a point where it makes me nervous and avoid social situations....why do people do that,in your opinion? so I can get a better understanding of the human being, and so I can stop being so self concious..

um...either people don't really do this as much as you think they do or....well, do you ever look up at people that enter a room? i do sometimes. just to see who it is, if i know them or whatever. if i don't, i turn away as quickly as i looked over. i'm not sure people give you as much thought as you think they do. you're giving people too much credit. most people are so preoccupied with themselves that they don't notice others as much as you're suggesting.

I know this one! And I know what you're talking about! People look to see who the new arrival is. Is it someone they know? Someone they hate? Someone they miss? When they look and see you uncertain, they want to know why you're uncertain. People see you are watching them look at you. It makes them curious. It's true many people immediately judge you, but not as many as you think. I deal with this a lot myself because I look a little different. It bothers me sometimes. Here's my best defense. If someone is staring, I wave at them and smile. It lets them know they're staring and they usually stop. If they ask why, tell them you saw them watching you like they expected you to do something. Really - it embarrasses ill meaning people, and it's a great way to make new allies in a strange situation.

I think people always do that, but because it is coming from your perspective - you feel it is just YOU. But truly it isn't. Next time try this, look directly back and smile warmly, nod and say how are you (or whatever). You might make a ton of new friends.

Always be sure that you are well-groomed and fresh and clean--then assume they are looking to be kind and make friends.

It's because you look at them. Try entering a room and not looking at all of the people there. Just look or concentrate on one or 2 people and ignore the rest.

In my experience it was just to see whoever was coming into the room next. Yes it is annoying.

It is because you are so good looking, people can't help themselves but stare.

Don't feel bad about it, feel good about it!
