One, is thinking that the other person knows what we know! And we don't give them enough information, or even time, to understand what we are saying!
Another is putting the other persons point of veiw down before we express ours, thinking that will make our point of view look better! That just angers
people!

They say we shouldn't even use the word "you". Because it will make a person go on the defensive, even if we're not talking about them personally. But use words like we, or someone.
One guy told me if I said "we", that's when he'd get offended, because then
I'd be including him! Can't please everybody!

We often listen to others' opinions simply so we can give a retort or argument instead of actually listening to understand what they are saying. We're so absorbed in proving our points, we don't even try to understand to the full extent what others are trying to communicate.

Those are both good. What about the flip-side of your first one - making sure we understand others before we disagree with them. Understanding is an often overlooked prerequisite to disagreeing.

Not "defining our terms" before we start communicating. Communication = words. Words require definitions. Words have meaning. Without agreement on the definition of terms, we talk "past" each other...not "to" each other.

All forms of communication are flawed as they are unable to describe what a thing IS,only what it's LIKE.They describe one thing by comparing it to another therefore ,technically,we cannot communicate.

Active listening. It's giving someone your complete attention and completely understanding what they are saying. I know very few who actually do it.
