I'm not Muslim, so technically, this is not for me to answer. But I will say that I feel ashamed of the no-brain prejudice that seems to be aimed at UK Muslims at the moment. Both the government and some of the people appear to be unable to make the distinction between Muslim and Dangerous Extremist Muslim, even though it's vitally important to do so. It's the same kind of difference as exists between most animal lovers and the kind of people who send bombs to the homes of research scientists. We really need to get a handle on the concept of subtlety in this country - until we do, I can only apologise to UK Muslims for the misrepresentations, misunderstandings and prejudice they currently face. I know that I for one would not like to have to pursue a faith in this atmosphere.

To a degree picked on, but at the moment its not that bad. I feel like because I call myself a Muslim there is a suspicious eye following me around. I remember when those tube bombings happened I, and other people I know were getting dirty looks in public places, which is understandable but we have not done anything to warrant such an attitude. I don't think we are treated differently though, I cant think of an example. What the vast majority of British Muslims want is to be treated the same as everyone else, I fear that this may not be the case in the future. Currently British Muslims, and all groups for that matter are treated very well, but there is, and will always be some prejudice against people who are not indigenously British.

Yes I do.....near enough every time when I got out.
Although I'm still a teenager...people still pick on me becuase of the way I am, and the way I follow as a Muslim. Also in school, I used to get picked on by a lot of people, even little kids.
5 year olds, give me weird, funny, dirty looks when I wear my cultural clothes, or even normal clothes. One thing is that I keep my lower garmet-troussers above my ankles, and people take the mick out of that. The proof to this is:
The prohibition on letting your garmet go pass the ankles is mentioned in the hadeeth (saying) of the Prophet Muhammad(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “Whatever part of the lower garment comes beneath the ankles is in the Fire.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5787.
I am a Muslim, born in the UK, and practice as a Muslim should do, not 100% but I am trying to.
Also, I have even been called a terrorist, which I find very offensive, as most people say all Muslims are terrorist...which is 100% false, it's most terrorist are 'Muslims', that give the rest of the Muslims a bad name. Please for those who think this, read about Islaam, the truth, and the talk about it. You people are lacking the information on Islaam.

To be honest with you the situations down in da U.K r gettin worse because you have issues upon issues upon issues and it just dosen't stop(yes i am a muslim) E.G The removal of the veil people r going crazy bout dat and more and more people are becoming racist the thing is firstly they are stopping muslim women to do what their religion (Islam) has told/taught them to do and women have been wearing it for ages and now they bring up the case. If I was to come to you (don't get offended sorry if i do) and tell you to do something that is against your religion (if u have one) would u do it? obviously no, and that's wot people who go against this issue don't realise. That it is part of our religion that muslim women should not show any part of the body to a man that would attract men. And the face can attract men so that is why women wear the veil to cover their face from people. And there are many more issues similar to do with Islam. So i reckon most places are not that racist only the few odd ones. But were not picked on. Well some people are and some people aren't it's a mixture.

not by the people i know, but the feeling you get from the general public isn't always very nice. some people treat you badly and judge you based on your religion when they don't even know you, others have the sense not to. it fels as though the government is lookin 2 kik us out tho! haha as are other people.
as for jews and christians, i have friends of both religions. there's no point in deciding to hate individuals because of wrong doings of other people who share their faith. obviously a lot of muslims have bad feelings towards israel because of the situation with palestine and the fact that so many innocent people are being killed (ok BOTH sides) but palestinians only get news coverage when they send a suicide bomber in2 israel evry few months. not when hundreds of civilians are killed every day by the israeli GOVERNMENT. but still i have jewish friends.
just because jews over there are doing bad things, doesn'tmean every jew in thew world is a bad person. it would be nice if people could see that and treated us the same way.

I'm not Muslim, nor am I in the UK.
But it stands to reason that good Muslims who have assimilated themselves well into British culture would not feel picked on. They understand the times we live in and know the anger is not directed at them.
And on the other side, fanatical Muslims in the UK will ALWAYS feel they are being picked on. No matter how much the government tries to be tolerant and ease east/west culture shock, these fanatics will never think it is enough. So they will marginalize themselves in any situation.

I was wearing my niquab on the bus the other day and this guy said to me "I bet you're really sexy under that veil!" I was very embarrassed and reported this to the bus driver but unfortunately the driver couldn't do anything about it. Evemtually I just broke wind in his direction to satisfy myself.
