As many as it takes. To free the Iraqis. To start a democratic nation in the heart of an Islamic culture. To help prevent the next Holocaust. As many as it takes.
My question is why are you so worried about it? You don't seem to be too interested in the future of the world.

Losing any soldier or marine is hard, but we need to keep things in perspective.
In the Battle of the Bulge during WWII we (the USA) lost 19,276 US soldiers and had 89,987 casulties....in only 40 days.
