I just wanted to say that meditation is not something that has helped me personally, I know many of these posters recommend it though. For me, I cannot get my mind to "quiet" enough to meditate, unless I take some of my tranquilizers (I have OCD and GAD along with depression). This is not the "best" solution, but as I'm sure you've experienced, sometimes these negative thoughts and the stress from them are debilitating.
What helps me most (medication aside) is doing something else. I most often have to force myself to do it and it is hard, but throughout whatever the distracting activity is it will get easier. When I'm lucky enough to have the oppurtunity I call a funny friend. Making me laugh always distracts me. Good luck.

Feeding negativity spells disaster. We all have hard times, that's just part of life, and we have to to the best we can. But put the energy into the good times, the positive, living a full life.

Mindfulness Meditation has always worked for me !!
Excellent authors are Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD (he also has a Stress clinic in Mass)
And Dr. Andrew Weil.
Also Thubten Chodron. She has an excellent book out called "Working With Anger" - for those who occasionally struggle with anger, negative thinking, and stress.
Also I would highly suggest that you Read the
book, "Calming Your Anxious Mind" by Jeffrey Brantley M.D.
R.N. - with Masters Degree.
THANK YOU !!!

Two simple rules to get you through these tough times but you have to believe it......
1. Dont sweat the small stuff.
2. It is all small stuff.
100 years from now you think anybody is goona care? Life is only as dramatic as we make it. You are the writter of yours so pencil in either good or bad.

Remember there are always many less fortunate than yourself and they can get past it, so you definitely can too.
Also remember worrying accomplishes nothing. If you freak out about accomplishing a task, that doesn't make it get completed any faster. Use your stress to take you where you want to be.

It is called emotional thought stopping. Do not think any of those thoughts for 2 days and you will see their meaning, if any, etc. You will also stop thinking those thoughts if you want.

Yoga and meditation. Just tell yourself you're not going to concentrate purely on the bad.
