Why shouldn't they be afforded full rights? If a person from another country is protected under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, then an Atheist also should be. Besides, the first Amendment shows that the government cannot abide by any religious institutions principals.

I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!

If Article VI of the Constitution prohibits using religious tests as a qualification for holding public office then I don't see how an atheist can be denied the full rights of citizenship.

Absolutely Yes!!

Our government was based on the freedom of religion, including freedom not to choose a religion. As a Christian, I believe that everyone has this right to choose or not to choose.

Why else in the Bible, do you think that God allowed Adam and Eve the choice to obey or not to obey. Because God wants us to worship him out of our choice, not out of being forced to do so.

The same with our country. We are blessed to live in a country that even if our President prays, we still have that choice to worship or not to worship.

And for those of you who fear that the Religious Right will take away your freedom on this. Don't worry - a lot of Christians still feel that should be free will, not by force, and we will continue to support a government that allows you that freedom.

Of course. There is no religious requirement for citizenship in the United States, nor should there ever be.

Thank you, searcher. I have great faith in the fairness of most of my Christian neighbors.

Yes. They are a human being and should have all the rights as every other person, regardless of skin, race, or religion.

I thought you god-squad cretins were supposed to be caring people? What does your god say about you hating people just because they don't agree with you??

The last time politics and religion were mixed, people were burned at the stake. Every person living in America should be afforded the same righst regardless of religion, sexual preference, gender, etc, etc, etc.....

(sigh!) of course. Perhaps I am overly "conspiracy oriented" but the only way I can understand your question is if you are an atheist, or at least a non-believer, trying to set people up. Maybe I've got you wrong, but it really looks that way.

Yes because everyone should be treated equally but atheism is not right. This country was founded on religion. The pilgrims fled from England to avoid religous persecution and be able to worship freely. So why be an atheist? Satan is out to get us. He's corrupted the minds of so many. Who's side are you on?
