Some people claim to be enlightened, but how can you tell? It seems a lot of people can talk like they are, but the next thing you know they are asking for money, or sleeping with deciples etc.
How can you tell?

I was in ther prescence of a person whom I suspect to have been very close to enlightenment. She always was kind and wise. She did not criticise others and seemed to be deeply genuinely happy. Life did not seem to have the ability to shake her at all. She was like a rock...others came to her for guidance or help or sometimes just to be in her prescence.
She probably didn't even have the word enlightenement in her vocabulary, she definitely would not claim to have been.
She just...was =)

Those who are enlightened know that they are and don't have to tell others or advertise that they are enlightened. Enlightened folks wouldn't, probably, be found in the ranks of the Yahoo R&S section. They probably wouldn't bash others' religion because they'd know that it's pointless.

Those who are truly enlightened will be the last ones to claim enlightenment if at all.

You can tell an enlightened person very easily:
They laugh their heads off when someone tries to tell them anything about "god." Because they know there's no such thing, and they're not about to prey on someone else's faith for money or power.
Now *that's* enlightenment. :)

an enlightened being will never tell anyone of their enlightenment and once their enlightenment is exposed they will disapear immediately and not to be found so those claimed to be enlightenment are breaking the most serious precept of liaring,stay clear of these people

Honesty, sincerity and wisdom come to mind. Enlightenment comes in degrees. You can be enlightened in some ways and not in others.

they have glowy things over their heads and they dont want to go to thanksgiving because they know what really happend on thanksgiving.
