My boyfriend age 26 met my brother for the 1st time last night. we had a bon fired and drank alot! any hoo we all got wasted and when i went inside he told my brother that he owned 600 acres free and clear in tennessee which is where he's from. so then my brother started questioning him about why he hadn't told me about it ,and just to back up a bit, he just borrowed $200 from me, and so my brother wanted to know why he didn't just take out a loan. Then his story changed to it being 200 acres he owned free and clear and tried to tell him in middle tennessee its not worth that much per acre. so this morning my brother told me about it and i don't know what to think. is it normal or could it be possible that he was just super wasted and wanted to impress my brother? and if so how do i go about finding out whats the deal?

It's not normal for anyone.
this person definently has some self esteem issues.

hm mm, I don't think it's "normal".

If I were you I'd forgive him, (for now) put it down to the drinking and the situation. If this ends up being a pattern for him, while drinking or sober, I would move on to greener pastures.

It's been my experience that the ones who make up little white lies all the time, are also the ones who are lying about huge things you just don't find out about until you have too much emotion invested in the relationship.

You will end up not confronting him on the lies because you don't see the point (it was just a silly little lie) and you feel embarrassed for him.

Yes and no. Obviously guys are like peacocks, with a need to show off for the woman they are with. Some do so more than others. Could have been a combination of that and all that you indicate you all had to drink. I'd ask him why he said that.
A man always wants the woman he's with to be impressed with him, which may have led to that statement.

Just stop lending out money first off.

Second he was probably embarrassed he's got nothing .And from the sound of it you have a place big enough for a bonfire and family has a bit of money.

but more importantly it shows his character. He is willing to lie.

so Just watch out and try to distance yourself from him.

And make sure you get your Moolah back and don't lend anymore out.

guys generally tell white fibs to build themselves or their egos up. however urs told a whopper. question him and then tell him that ur family isnt impressed with all that. all he needs to do is treat u right and not be a bum and they will like him just fine

no it's not normal but people like that do it because they have very low self esteems and have to over compensate by exaggerating or lying

I would say normal, and just confront him about it. Thats what adults do.
