I'm a Muslim and i have a lot of non Muslim friends, even atheist's!
I am tolerant and respectful of any religion and their believers even non believers and i expect the same respect in return.
It does annoy me to hear that people still think like this.
If you always converse about religion you will get strong points of view and you simply have to take it as an opinion as every one is entitled to one.
I personally have not noticed this 'facet' of British life, if you look for it you will find it!

The Sikh/Hindu are traditionally more tolerant toward other people's belief system. Hindus themselves embrace a wide range of opinions. Sikhism, Buddhism, Jainism etc are all thought to be based on Hinduism and live side by side.

You don't need the chrisatians god. You just need to stick to people you have something in common with. Would you want be friends with someone who thinks they are better then you when they are defiantely not? You are better off staying away from those who think their religion makes them so wonderful. As for why they do it, well the church tells them how special they are and that non believers aren't. I know this as I was a churchgoer.
Just be yourself and don't change just to suit them. I'm sure you have friends so be happy knowing you are an open minded person who treats others equally.

I am a proud Sikh because of my ability to interact with practically every type of human being. Not only humans, but domestic pets like cats and dogs. It doesn't matter to me if there are differences. But at heart all have the same needs for peace, joy, happiness, tranquility and fulfillment. If these are your fundamental needs then you can interract with me.

god will strike you down you sinner.
theres your answer (chuckle)
sikhs and hindu seem to be quite excepting of our modern (un-christian culture) as long as it doesn't effect there beliefs and homelifes. muslims and christians both seem to want to dominat the world ridding it of sinners such as the likes of us white atheists and people that don't agree with there beliefs.religion is the cause of ALL wars.money is usually second.
Generally christians differ amongst themselves, as do muslims.
ie. they cant even get on with each other within there own religions.

because Christians, Jews, and Muslims are monothestic relgions. They also have many things in common. Also as a Christian I can not fathom 'athiesm' it just doesn't make sense to me. I know it doesn't make sense to my muslim friends. Sikhism is monotheistic relgion also.(i'm not sure about Sikhs becuase i've never met one) HIndusim is a polotheistic relgion (well sort of) But it is much closer to Hinduism than the mideast relgions. that must have something to do with it. sorry i guess that doesn't help.
Also they probably don't see you as a heathen. They don't really have a heaven and hell. I wish i could explain better but Hinduism and Sikhism happens to be really confusing to me.

Your not a believer. What do you expect? What do you have in common with christians? I'll tell you what. Nothing. Christians love fellowship, bible studies and praising the lord. How would you fit in? I'm sorry for you that you are an atheist. You'll be sorry in the end.
