You really need to have a vet take a look, and do a skin scraping. If that rules out mange ( demodectic or sarcoptic) then they can help you find out what may be the cause. There are several conditions that can cause hair loss, and the only real way to know is with a vet visit. Good luck.

Ringworm or mange would be the most common problems with that symptom. (there are others, as well)

Ringworm is contagious to other pets as well as people. One type of mange is contagious as well. Both can spread on an infected dog pretty quickly and leave you with a big problem.

Get your puppy into a vet and find out exactly what's causing the hair loss. The vet will then be able to advise you of what you need to do to treat him or her.

Get your dog to a Vet for a skin scraping and exam. There are too many things it could be including "hot spots", mange, allergies, other skin conditions. I have a Golden Retriever mix who has battled genetic allergies and skin condition and I have a dog food which suits her condition plus she gets supplements for her coat and skin recommended by the Vet and on occasion she needs a Cortisone shot. Some dogs are born with skin conditions and some can have diseases or problems that once treated can be eliminated.

My mom pit has the same problem... she has sensitive skin and gets stressed out and some of it fall out and some of it she pulls out. The vet gave my mother a special shampoo she has to use on her. She looks much better now but if she gets upset, she starts doing it again.
