what about tickets to something that all three of you can do and do together - as friends, of course? the zoo, a kid's play, etc. that would show definite interest in being with her and her son, which is critical to a single parent.

How about a day full of entertainment for her and her son and you? You could start off with a trip to the zoo in the morning, followed by a picnic lunch which allows time for conversation and a rest period for her son or playground time. Then you could go to a museum and then dinner and a movie. If this is too much in one day for the boy, why not suggest after the museum trip, that you cook her dinner and watch a dvd afterwards, this way she can put her son down early is need be and give you time for talking. Also it never hurts to take a small toy, such as a car or airplane for the son to play with, it shows her that you like children and are willing to include him in the activities once in awhile.

At one time, I was the single mom with kids who had a friend waiting on me to love him back. To impress me he would point out when the moon was huge and cool looking, but I know you can't give that as a gift. He also came over once when he knew I was really tired and cooked supper, with stuff the kids liked, that was impressive. So you might find a way to cook dinner for her (provide the ingredients) and her son, and take a bottle of wine with a Christmas bow on it for you and her, and a bottle of pop with a bow on it for the boy. The more you include the boy and relate to him, the more impressed she'll be. If you think that this would be too forward and are looking more for a friendship gift that isn't too pushy or like going on a date, then maybe a real cool plant for her home - something that lasts and makes her think of you when she looks at it - and a toy for the boy. Anyway, good luck and keep chasing!

The perfect gift would be a day at a spa. These places are all over these days and beings shes a mom she could use some pampering. A nice massage a facial and even a mudd bath. Go for it!! She may even return from her day of beauty and give you a message of your own liking.. good luck..

Get her something special, not just any ho-hum gift. Think about the person she is and what would make her life better or easier. Maybe get her a massage somewhere or something relaxing she can do like get a mani/pedi. If you really want to get in there with her and her son, get him a gift, too. Or hang out with him while she's getting the massage or mani/pedi. That will show you care about her and can hang with her son, too.

I agree with most everyone else who has answered, go on outing and involve her son. The zoo, an amusement park, putt-putt golf, or a kid friendly movie; i.e. Happy Feet and then get a bite to eat, but nothing too fancy since her son won't be interested in anything fancy, but not fast food either! I wouldn't suggest a personal gift, since you aren't dating, it might seem a bit to forward and presumptuous.

Just take her AND her son out to eat. Make sure that whatever you do, you involve the son. If she is interested in you, she wants to make sure that you will treat her son right. I'd get the son something that he's interested in or just money. Get the woman a necklace, bracelet, or something like that.

OK if I was in her shoes...... I would be so touched if you bought my child a nice gift ( don't go overboard though), because that would show how much you appreciate my child as well as me. As for a gift for me??? Hum?? don't have to be expensive but a small piece of jewelry would be nice.

Try to do something with her that her son can tag along and enjoy also because that would mean alot to her. Go to a park, movies, or an arcade or something along those lines.

Then make it personal.Do you know what cologne she wears?Women love things bought with their taste in mind.If possible a nice purse is great(we never have enough purses)Or if she's a business woman---a brief case. It's your money, you decide.I think this is a nice gesture.......
