ok if booze takes away your judgement, wouldn't it take any your judgement whether you should lie or not, I worked in a bar for 4 years and I used to drink pretty heavy, I know that I would lie way more when I was drunk, and even make claims about things I didn't believe, some people role play when they drink, just to experiment, they will lie to women all night without remorse,

My father was an alcoholic, so you are telling me that the things he said to me when he was drunk were his true feelings, and that he thought I was a useless piece of crap,,please tell me

Hey man, you already know the truth. When people are drunk they lie even to themselves! Many times you don't even remember what you said the night before. It seems that lies just slip out before you realize what you are saying. In the case of what your dad said to you when drunk, that is what most drunks do. In order to take the focus off of their screw-ups they will try to make others (often their kids or spouses) feel that if it weren't for all the screwed up people around them they would not drink.

Alcohol is known as "Liquid Truth Serum in a Bottle" because it makes us say what we are REALLY FEELING inside.

If you tell people stories while youre drunk it is because you feel less than who you really are and deep down WANT to be someone else even if it is only for one night.

You know that what you are saying is not true, however, you feel the need to tell those stories because that is who you WANT to be.

As far as your father telling you you are a piece of crap.... He said those things to hurt you because he truly feels like a piece of crap himself and it weighs on him.

As humans, we need to feel like we are somebody and when we do not, then we feel the need to make others around us feel bad about themselves to make us feel better about ourselves.

Therefore, the title "Liquid Truth Serum in a Bottle" IS the correct name because it brings out our TRUE emotions. Understand??

Dont worry, you are not a piece of crap unless you believe it yourself and allow yourself to go nowhere.

There is nothing wrong with you being you. Just be yourself and youll be fine, sweetie.

Good Luck. Hope this helps.

PS. GOOD JOB, Debbie!!! EXCELLENT answer!!! You got it going on, girl!!

I don't think alcohol is a truth serum at all. My father is an alcoholic and if I believed everything that came out of his mouth I would be a basket case.
He used to tell me that it was my fault he drank all the time. I was sick as a baby and cried alot, he couldn't stand me crying so he started drinking. I know it wasn't my fault he would drink himself into a stupor. He used that as an excuse to keep drinking and hurting people. When he would argue with my mom, he would tell her to look at me and see what caused him to drink....that is a horrible thing to tell a child.
So as children of alcoholic's we have to ignore anything what comes out of their mouths when they are drunk. It's just BS to make us feel bad in order to justify what they are doing.

It's not a truth serum, I think it just gets rid of your inner monologue, so to speak. Things you might think but would NEVER say or do suddenly come out. That's why there are always so many regrets when you sober up--if you can remember what you did the day/night before. If not, friends usually tell you--if they are still speaking to you, that is.

People have a tendency to say the truth when asked a question while drunk. This doesnt mean that everything a drunk says are their true feelings. If he was drunk and saying that crap he was telling you that he was jealous of your achievements.

sure - i'd agree. You have a tendency to care a lot less about what others would imagine. except intoxicating stuffs - i wager being too chuffed or excited or too unhappy also makes you lose administration of your tongue. Your worry-free body of ideas is going for a toss. properly extra in something is definitely undesirable. some subconscious thoughts or ideas are enable out in this type of state.
