Just like humans dogs get arthritis as they get older. There is a med that you can get from your vet. Rimadill (not sure of spelling) but it can provide great relief of the inflammation in the joints.

There is also a thing called, 'Tellington Ttouch' that can help. It is a hands on thing that can do for different ailments but the one for arthritis that can help if it is done on a regular basis. It is an amazing therapy and works most of the time. It was originated from a therapy for horses but was found so effective it now covers dogs and cats, too.

Everyone is right. There is not cure for Arthritis. However, there is some relief from the pain associated with it. There is also medication to help with inflammation, which will also help ease the pain. Do NOT give you animals human medications without first checking with their vet. Medications that are harmless to you and I can be fatal to pets.

My husband had a dog with arthritis. He used glucosamine / chondriotin. It is essentially the same for dogs and humans. However, check with your vet for the dosage.

There is no cure for arthritis in dogs or humans. I would check with your vet. There are canine medications that will ease the swelling, pain and help cushion the joints. Humans take condroiten and glucosemine, and they make it for dogs also. I have given my dog the human stuff (it is less expensive), but it depends on the size of the dog, how much to give him. If you have a good vet, they will tell you how many Mg's of human medication to give him. If they aren't nice and they just want to make money, they will not tell you, but charge you for the canine stuff. I am lucky to have a good vet, that if there is a human equivalent OTC medication, she will tell me how much to give my dogs.

No cure for arthritis in human or dogs. Take him to the vet and get him some anti inflammatories and pain meds to alleviate the pain.

You can't cure him but you can treat him. One treatment that is available for pets but not so much for humans is direct injection of the joint with glucosamine/chondriotin sulfates. This is EXTREMELY effective in treating pain but only lasts a few weeks. You will have to bring him in for repeated treatment.

Although effective for dogs, humans don't get much of this type of treatment. It's being used for knee pain to extend the time before a patient needs a knee replacement. And it is in the experimental stages for the same with hip replacement.

Note that this is a hell of alot different than oral supplementation with glucosamine/chondroitin (which basically does nothing). Injecting it directly into the joint is what makes it effective.

You can not cure him, but speak with your veterinarian. They have things that can ease the pain & inflamation to make movement easier for him. They do work. My brother's dog has arthritis in his hips & they have him on something the vet gave them.

You can't cure arthritis. depending on the size of dog, a minimal dose of aspirin with food when he/she looks like it hurts. Some doggie massages would probably feel good, provide a warm & cushy bed.
