I am temp working for a very good company. I found I was pregnant over two months ago but I'm afraid to tell them because I am worried they won't hire me. They are expected to hire me in less than thirty days but I feel sneeky and dishonest like I am tricking them by not saying something sooner. My boss has already made a comment about someone else who was pregnant and how to avoid hiring her without admitting it was because she was pregnant.

I say when you start to show, yuo can all ways play the card you didn't know at the time. They cannot hire you or fire you because you are pregnant but you may not get the maternity leave benefits because you have worked for the company for under a year.

First of all too not hired a woman due to pregnancy is against the law and considered discrimination. So my suggestion is that maybe you should not say anything until you have this job, if you withhold information that is not lying. It sounds like your boss is looking out for his interest, he is sharing about not hiring someone else due to pregnancy, then if this is the case you should look out for you own interest. If he does not want to hire another person because they are pregnant, you already know he won't hire you even though it is wrong. You also know that he is being dishonest, because he is trying to find another excuse not to hire the other person who is pregnant. As I am sure he knows that it is against the law, in this day in age jobs are hard to find are you sure this is where you really want to work ?

It's illegal to not hire someone because they are pregnant, so technically if you are or aren't pregnant it shouldn't make a difference, so not saying anything shouldn't matter. Tell your boss after you are 3 months pregnant and just tell him/her that you were not ready to tell anyone sooner than that. 3 months is like the check point for a healthy baby in most cases.

DON'T TELL THEM UNTIL THEY HIRE YOU! Since your boss is discriminating, it would be unwise to tell him/her now. It's not your fault that your boss discriminates against pregnant women -- which is against the law! Normally I'd say wait until after 13 wks anyway because your risk of miscarriage drops dramatically then. That's what I did. If your boss is mad, say there's a family history of miscarriage and you didn't know if the pregnancy was viable. Good luck!

I got fired for being pregnant once, they did it in a roundabout way. It's supposed to be illegal. I would wait until you start showing. Legally you don't have to tell someone whos about to hire you that youre pregnant. It sounds sneaky, but it's the world we live in today. Wait until after youre hired.

First, let me say, "Congratulations",you should in no way feel GUILTY for not wanting to share your pregnancy, knowing your boss has previously commented about not wanting to hire a pregnant woman.
Now,feel free to tell them you are having a baby after you have been hired.

Ouch..tough one. I would agree with the advice that you don't tell until you have to. Unfortunately, even though it's against the law to discriminate it happens all the time. They can be sneaky about it. You won't get maternity leave benefits though - you have to have been there a year for that to kick in. Other than that - just play the "omigosh I can't believe it! I'm pregnant!" card.

I wouldn't tell them untill you're really showing, about 4 months. Because, they say if you have a misscariage it will be in the first semester usually, so by 4 months, you're prolly good. Also, if you want to job, don't tell them yet, unless you're having to lift a lot of stuff or working hard like that. When you do tell him, just say you just found out. He won't know, lol.

I wouldn't want to work for a company w/ a boss like that..what does he do when people get deathly sick (like cancer for example)
What does he lay them off? I would get a job w/ a decent boss

Wait until they hire you- although it is illegal to not hire someone because they are pregnant. it will happen. Just wait. then they wont have any reason not to keep you.
