What if all thestories were just metaphors to explain existance in that day and age? What if religion was as it is now a political tool to shift the gears of society. What if "God" was simply a term to explain the universe as a whole living entity for it basically is in the sense that everything in the universe is both dependent and independent of the rest of existance.
I know the story. I've read the Bible from Genesis to Revelations countless times. I've also read the Kuran and the Kabbalah. I'm merely stating what if it was all metaphor and that people are just killing or fighting each other over trivial details.

Do any of you read the details? I'm posing this hypothetically. Keep your answers in line with the hypothesis. I'm saying what if they used religion as a tool. Of course they would "claim" a god existed. Here is another perfect example of why "religious" people should mutilated in front of their children.

That can be your take and I will respect your right to see it that way. Can you respect mine to believe what it says?... Jim

I think that's like asking "what if the whole story of Napoleon and the French Revolution were only figures of speech to show how people seek freedom but have a natural tendancy to be dominating?"
Regarding the "trivial details" - is it a trivial detail that helps a rape victim find peace? Is it a trivial detail that gives freedom to a drug addict? Is it a trivial detail that brings a family back together?
Is it trivial detail to see a life filled with hatred transformed into a life of love? Because that's the kind of trivial detail God and Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and the Bible are about.
No, we weren't meant to be killing eachother about this kind of "trivial detail", but there is nothing trivial about it. It is life changing. I wouldn't be alive today if I hadn't known Jesus Christ as my lord and Saviour.

Although I feel that a good deal of your sceptical attitude is healthy fear that you are rather hasty in rushing into this sensitive area. Have you really taken the trouble to examine your excursions into metaphysics?
It may be that you mis-spelt "existance" because you are not good at spelling English words, but what about "thiest" for "theist". If you cared for the meaning of words you should have cottoned on to the correct spelling. Or, a person wanting to be fair by his readers should have used the Spell Check.

If (and I mean if) that's the case, I would still serve a living, loving God instead of trying to make theroies as to why He would just be a metaphore.
Jesus is more real than you or I.
And if you've read the bible cover to cover countless times then you should know the truth. Or are you using it as a way to mask your unbelief? For if you did believe then you wouldn't have asked such a question.

If they were, they wouldn't have founded any religion, now would they?
The only religious founder who is described as being an atheist, was the Buddha, because he did not believe in a Singular Creator God, & yet, even he did accept the possibility of non-creator deities.

they did not carry forth faith so as that folk ought to worship God: a million Moses, Mohamed: They preached faith as a administration mechanism to get the people to persist with their regulations. 2 Jesus: in all probability not one individual, yet a college of definitely people who have been attempting to instruct the people faraway from the 'harsh' god of the old testomony and create a clean, greater humane faith. Later greater beneficial to 'god' status and used as a administration mechanism by utilising the Romans.

That's a good hypothesis. I never thought of it that way before. It makes sense, because a lot of the Bible is metaphor, so one cannot distinguish well what is literal and what is not.

I am willing to believe that they were believers -- with the possible exception of Muhammad -- the Qur'an is a scam. The biblical tales aren't metaphors -- they are folklore, intended to explain reality, passed down from generation to generation until finally written down. And anyone who has ever played "telephone" knows how well that works.

No. Moses talked to god - meaning he was a deist. Jesus was a Jew, or possibly a deist also. Muhammed thought of Jews and Christians as allies, so he's really a deist too.
... none of which would be atheists.

King of Babylon, I think you are king of babbling on..... (and making very little logical sense) The ONLY thing you said that makes sense is "people are fighting and killing each other over trivial details".

You may have read the Bible "countless times" (doubt it)
but you have yet to understand it.
You do not know the story and there are no trivial details.
What if? Come on............
