I want to buy some cheese which I am going to shred to put in a stuffed mushroom recipe. Since it's pretty expensive and I don't want to waste money, how much of a block of cheese should I buy to make two cups shredded? It has a cheddar-like texture, if that helps.

IT MIGHT BE CHEAPER FOR YOU TO BUY THE EXACT AMOUNT ALREADY SHREADED CAUSE IT IS PRE MEASURED.AND YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY MORE THAN YOU NEED. GOOD LUCK SOUNDS GOOD.

Mars is probably correct. Just get the Shredded cheese and you done with it. Recipes are just a Guideline. If, it a little more or less it be OK, I would prefer more than less. Just put it all in and throw away the bag and it out of the way.

a little less than two cups - it takes up more space when shredded . You'll just have to estimate.
