AUDIO
wma takes the least amount of space. if you have Micro$oft Plu$ it has a converter in it that will let you convert mp3's to wma. if your cd player will play mp3's it should play the wma's as well. when you convert an mp3 to wma it lets you select how large/small the output file will be. a 5 meg mp3 file could easile be made into a 2 meg wma file wit no loss of quality.

VIDEO
wmv and avi are pretty close but they will not play in a cd player and will only play in a dvd player that says "Supports Windows Media" on it.

Because mpg, avi and wmv can all be set to different resolutions and qualities, there is no one answer for this question. Of the three, wmv can be set to the lowest quality, making the smallest files. But you loss a lot of the picture quality. You would probably not be happy with the results. So you will have to play around and find the combination of size and quality that is right for the project you are working on.

As for working on a CD player, any of them will work on a computer's CD player. I am not aware that any of them will work on a non-computer CD player, because they do audio only, not video.

WMV is the smallest file, but it has the worst quality. AVI will give you the best quality for the amount of space.
