Look in your bibles folks. It is the whole point behind burnt sacrifices and is detailed repeatedly.

I do not consider it my duty as an atheist to need to educate you believers about your own book, you should know this stuff.

Some of the Christian responses to this are amazing. How long will these folks try to put the square in the round hole? When will it finally occur to them that all the horribly twisted logic in the world won't make it fit? It's utter jackassery to claim Christians don't follow the Old Testament. It's the same god people. Christians do indeed follow him. Or this drivel about how God loves us so much that he slaughtered his son for our sins? Think about it. Is that love or sadism? And one of these jokers is claiming God doesn't like the smell of burning human flesh, just animal flesh because it makes him pine for a nice bowl of soup. LOL. But these people are really more scary than they are funny.

I can't believe the number of people arguing and debating things that NEVER HAPPENED! The Bible is a FAIRY TALE concocted by sheep herders who thought the world was flat! Isn't it time to GROW UP???

It's not the burning of flesh He likes, It's the aroma of a burnt offering (which happens to be animal flesh) It's not so much the act of the sacrifice but the hearts posture behind it which makes the aroma so appealing to Him.

Flesh is the symbol of self. To have the aroma of burning flesh is to agree with God's assessment of the value of fleshly desires, it needs to be destroyed.

The aroma was the only part of sacrifices meant for God, everything else was used to feed the Levites (priests) and their families. The Levites were the only tribe that didn't receive land in order to support themselves. Their work was in the Temple itself; they were supported by the other tribes who inherited the land.
