Okay, so I was at Target looking at shirts in the mens section, and apparently a shirt got knocked off the rack and fell onto the floor.
I really dont think it was my fault, but the woman who worked at Target was standing right there, saw what happened, and gave me a dirty look and silence....so after a few awkward seconds I said...."I just wanted to see what it looked like when I got home"..... she did not even crack a smile, she just picked up the shirt and walked away with it, like I had done something really bad. I left without purchasing anything because she made me feel so bad. For all I know the shirt on the other side of the rack may have not been hung up correctly by some other shopper,
and I somehow ended up getting the brunt of the employee's bad side for my trouble. Some people just have no sense of humor, am I wrong? Or is it just me?

Some people just have no sense of humor. Don't let it get you down. That was an excellent comeback. If she had a problem with it that is because she is a b****. She is not worth fretting over. I joke around all the time and I know how it feels to have a joke fall flat because someone has no sense of humor. Shrug it off and go on, be yourself. My philosophy is "If you don't like me, that is your loss."

Thats actually kinda sad. Doing something like that is embarassing anyway. I am clumsy so when i do something stupid i try to make a joke out of it. If i can make others laugh before they laugh AT me i dont feel so bad. I just feel a little dorky. Its too bad the employee didnt laugh. Laughing is fun. Some people just dont have a sense of humor. I think what you said is hilarious. thats a piddly thing to give a dirty look over.

If it makes you feel any better i accidentally threw a hanger at a customer (it didnt hit them, it slipped out of my hand) about a week ago. I am constantly almost bumping into people. Usually i will say oh im so sorry. Im trying to see how many people i can run into today and your number 7! Usually they laugh.

Forget about the employee...she probably just had a bee up her butt or something that day. Rude people are everywhere and unfortunately they breed.

Oh what a hilarious come back!!! I would have busted out laughing even if I was in a bad mood.

I think there is so much stress in todays world that laughter/humor is one thing that we don't see enough of. If folks would just look at things with this thought: "Will it matter in 1 year? 2 years? 5 years?" and then move on, maybe they wouldn't be so nasty.

BTW, she may not have laughed, but ya got me with a big ole smile on my face. Too funny.

That employee was probably just having a bad day, and I doubt it was personal. Shoppers always mess up the order of things in stores, but employees should always be kind to customers no matter what they do, or else they risk losing business for the store like she did.
It was only a small mishap, and you'll probably never see that girl again, so don't let it ruin your day. :)

That's a good one.......

I think I can use that myself in a pinch at a department store.

It happens to me all the time, when I rummage thru clothes on the rack overloaded racks do have this kind of problem.

Hey, thanks for the line. It is funny. I admire your quick thinking and a great comeback.

Oh.... as for the sales person at Target - just ignore. She was in a bad mood. We have bad days too, don't we? Give her that slack.

It made me laugh! hehehe

I've taken to talking to the manager of stores when employees mistreat me or do not do their jobs. Walmart has given me $20 gift cards on a couple of occasions because what happened was so bad. I'm 47 yrs old and finally got tired of spending my money in establishments and being silent when I don't get decent treatment and a good product. It's gotten very bad in the retail chain stores.

Best Wishes and thanks for the laugh.

I found the first comment quite amusing. Holocaust JOKE, joke. It depends on peoples humour and I think you are looking too deeply into it, people are not laughing about the fact the Holocaust happened, they are only jokes and much worse has been said about other things. I can't even describe how upsetting it is hearing about the Holocaust, I love Anne Frank but when jokes are funny, jokes are funny.

Put yourself in that Clerk's shoes, you work hard for little pay. I don't see she did anything wrong, she hung the shirt back on the rack and walked away, that's not rude, just doing a day's work. Sorry, she didn't roll on the floor laughing at your FUNNY JOKE. Get over it!!

I thought that was hilarious--I'm still LOL.

About the rude sourpuss employee, too bad Target does not have comment cards like a certain other major retailer (walmart could use them too) . If their poor customer service actions could be put to paper with their name for mgmt/corporate to read they might be nicer.
