I've quit smoking three times and each time I experience flu-like symptoms (fatigue, minor sore throat, body aches) within a week. I've been smoke-free for 9 days now, and I have had absolutely no craving for cigarettes, which is good. I just get these minor flu smyptoms, though!

Yes this is totally normal. Now that you have stopped putting an un-natural substance into your body, your body now has the ability to detoxify itself and to ride yourself of these toxins.

These toxins do get released by your cells into your blood and your bodies natural immune response it attempting to rid your body of these toxins through the lung, skin, kidneys and bowel.

Sometimes these systems, if not performing at 100% can be taxed or overloaded and not remove the toxins as quickly as they are being released. This is what causes the ill effects.

There are many detoxification products and herbs out there that can assist in the elimination of these toxin in your body more efficiently. Also be sure to be drinking at least 8 glasses of water each day which will definitely help the purging of these toxin more rapidly.

You are doing the right things your body is just doing it's best to get itself to be healthier state. Good Job!

It is great that you quit smoking and that you had no withdrawls. Maybe you were so sick that you did not feel anything. I was also a smoker and I also stopped sutendly when I found out I was pregnanat. I didn't have any withdrawls and what I say is that when I smoke is because I like it not because I am addicted. It must be like the alcoholocs, there are some genetic alcoholics and other are the alcoholics because they like it. The people that have some genes that affect theire habit of drinking are the people that have a difficult time to quite there addiction. The same is true with drugs. Maybe also happens with the nicotine.

All I know is that my mother quit a couple of years ago and she went thru the flu like smyptoms too. She would quit and then start gett'N sick. She would get so fed up with it she would give up on trying to quit and smoke 1 or 2. :( Long story short she finally quit but through out it all she was sick for about 2yrs doing it this way. It's just your body trying to get rid of all the "phunk" in your system. Once your over this you'll be fine. So it might be hard but keep it up it'll all payoff in the end! Oh little side note for any pop up cravings. When ever my mom would get one she'd just says that "I've never smoked so I don't know why I'm craving a cig." It sounds funny but hey it works for her. Good Luck!
