I wanted to back up my dvd collection but I have downloadewd many programs to back up dvds but none of them worked

you know you have to have anydvd runnibg for clone to work....right? if so try DVDXCOPY or GAMEJACK. there are more if those do not work let me know and i will hook you up with more. my yahoo ID is doc_tyrone

The ones I'm familiar with are DVD X Copy that makes a duplicate DVD and there's DVD copy plus that converts different formats into Video CD format. These are older products that came out about 2 years or so ago. There's a good chance that better versions are out now.

In addition to dvdshrink, you might want to check out Shrinkto5 and Alcohol 120%

I use DVDShrink and it works great.
