skateboard and play football. my mom thinks both are dangerous and "unlady like". i think skateboarding is cool and i would like to learn how to ride one. for the football part, i'm not talking about playing on a team, just in the backyard with my brother and cousins (who all happen to be boys). i've gotten my glasses twisted playing with them, so now i get in trouble if we play tackle. just tossing a football around a two hand touch is alright with her though (even though the guys would rather tackle). so should i just stick to playstation skateboarding and 2 hand touch, or go for the real deal.

No, it's not wrong. I do both. And even though I live with my dad and I'm 13 my mom still buys me barbie dolls! She thinks that I should be this pretty, fancy, prissy girl when I love sports. I love football, and skateboarding. I love horseback riding and animals and she won't let me pet a dog! I'm growing up in a household with boys, one brother, my dad, and then I have all boy cousins and my grandpaw. So I know how you feel. And I hate it when guys say that it's wrong for girls to do "boy" things. It's predgist to me.
So I let my mom know that I'm not like my half-sister, and I am a go getter and have fun unlike her. Sometimes I wonder if she really is my mom.
GO FOR IT! Let your mom know that you are who you are and you want to be that tomboyish girl. Don't stick to playstations, tackle! I do it with my cousins. And I'm better than they are. So don't let your mom stop you. GO FOR THE REAL DEAL and tell her that she can't change you. Thats what I did.
Good LUck@@

I wish I had the guts to learn how to skate ... there's not too many girls that actually stick to it ... most of them are just in it for the boys ... your mom sounds like she just wants a sweet little girl ... I was the same way you are ... hung out with the guys, played sports, got dirty & my closest friends ( even today ) are my cousins & brothers ... nothing wrong with playing in the dirt ... once I graduated from high school I ended up joining the Army & lived in Germany for 2 years ... your mom should be happy that she has such an active young lady ... all that running around puts you in shape ... keeps you out of trouble & hopefully she'll have an open mind to more of your hobbies ... as long as you stay out of trouble, keep your grades up & continue being a " good " kid I don't think she'll really care what you want to try out ... if she's totally against it ... I'd say you have one strict mother that needs a good talk ... have fun try everything at least once you never know you may become some hot pro skater one day that all the guys wish they were as good as you ... lol ... !

no absolutley not. girls can do anything boys can do. since your mom is more wiser and knows whats best then maybe you should listen to her. its never wrong for a girl to quit her girlish ways for a little while and let loose. if your playing with your cousins then dont wear your glasses. put them aside and then when your done put them back on. keep them as far away from the backyard as possible. or you can talk to your dad. he might have a different insight on this. if they still wont budge then stick to the regular things you do. you dont want to disobey your parents and get in trouble. so just stick to the regular.

No it's not wrong to skateboard or play football..I don't know what your mom is thinking about skateboarding is fun.I could understand why she would be against the tackle football ... you can get hurt ... that I agree with ..touch football would be better and its fun too ....

No, girls are just as capable as boys. The problem is, we spend too much time defining roles for both men and women. I think if you like playing football and skateboarding, more power to you. Your mom just wants her baby girl, that's all. .....my mom does handstands on skateboards, it's a pretty funny site.

have you and your mom sat down and discussed how you feel and how she feels about this? You didnt say how old you are but that could make a difference especially if you are starting to go through puberty or whatever they call it for young ladies. Suggest a compromise with your mom; it is always best to remember that mom was young once too and although times have changed so much, mom is wise and usually knows what is best for you.

it is not wrong!!!!!!!!girls can do whatever boys do and even better!!!don't let your mom tell you its wrong even though she "thinks" it is!!!do whatever you thing is right!!girls have as much rights as boy to be a skateboarder of a football player!!listen to yourself!!do u think it's wrong???if not go for it there is nothing wrong(women have been fighting to have the same rights as men and this case it isn't any different!!!{and ask your mom why she doesn't think its isn't "lady like"}in this age women don't seat at home knitting and sewing!!!)
so in my opinion go for it there is nothing wrong with you doing what you like!!!!
GO FOR IT!!!!

good luck!!!

I don't think it's wrong. I was like that too when I was a kid. I spranged my arm once and got into huge trouble but I had fun. She shouldn't impose sterotypes on you.

DO WHAT YOU FEEL LIKE DOING AND WHAT YOU ARE HAPPIEST WITH BECAUSE IF YOU GIVE UP ON WHAT YOU LIKE MOST THEN IT WOULD BE LIKE GIVING UP YOUR LIFE.
