Some soaps are made with animal fats and various oils and a dogs acute sense of smell makes it interesting to it. (he doesnt know its a bar of soap)..

I would be very careful about the dog being poisoned though, keep it well out of reach in future.

Ok remove the soap from the dog,,, soap can be harmful if she has eaten enough, she needs to learn not to eat soap, whether or not she likes the taste is for her to know and you to really to find. But take away the soap

All mammals try to eat as much fatty food as possible. Soap has a lot of fat in, or fat- like qualities. Your dog is just doing what is natural for an animal... Also pets can get a taste for something that is totally bad for them.....judt try to keep it out of her sight.

Some animals just like the taste. I knew a cat that used to eat soap - no harm done!

Maybe it's to do with the fat content of the soap - try a pong-free vegetable fat one (Waitrose do a nice one) and see if she's less keen on that.

Maybe your dog just likes the smell.

My dog growing up had very strange taste in things. She'd eat potato chips given the chance, and was particularly fond of iced tea.

i cant have a bath without my dog wanting to stick his head in and try and eat the bubbles. You try telling a 6 and half stone 7 month old German shepherd, lololol dogs do crazy things

dogs are basically opportunist scavengers, they will eat anything thay can if it's available. it what they would do in the wild, although obviously not with soap!

i wouldn't have thought its a sign of anything wrong. dogs will try to eat anything! if she came from a shelter it may be that she's still trying to scavenge. my rescued dog ate absolutely anything.. including other dog's poo if you didn't stop him! stopped now though he's knows he'll get fed.
