I would like to say that yes, that it is ok to sing and dance and all.. it's great that you're happy and having a good time. BUT the problem here is that you're saying that your behavior is annoying to your spouse.

Here's what you need to ask yourself: Which is more important to me, the song & dance OR my spouse?

Is your spouse trying to unwind, or are they trying to concentrate on something? Your behavior could be VERY distracting and/or stressful to your spouse. (Even if this is not the case, if you act this way a lot, it could still get pretty old after a while.)

It might be hard to understand, but unwelcome sounds/noise can feel a like a violation of personal space.

On top of all that, your spouse has expressed their feelings to you about this behavior. Assuming it really does bother them, and if you persist in the behavior, you are sending the message that the way they feel does not matter much to you.

I would suggest that you try to find a better way - or maybe just a better time - to express your positive emotions so that it does not come at such an expense.

It is never okay to do something that someone has indicated annoys them. This is particularly true in circumstances where the person being annoyed does not have the option of withdrawing from the situation. Doing something that someone finds annoying after they have let you know that they are annoyed is rude.

If your singing/dancing/wiggling when you're happy annoys your spouse, you might give some consideration for whether this person is the right spouse for you, or you are the right spouse for him. Just a thought.

I do it all the time... my only question is...Do you need a bucket to carry a tune? If you do this could be what your spouse finds annoying.
