If you had the option, would you send people to hell because they did not live as you commanded? Would you let anyone into heaven that tried to live a good life, or would you make them use their free will to do what you desired? Why?

While I respect individual peoples theology, I just wanted to know what you would do, not to hear about what you believe God has already done.

As parent, if my child did something wrong they were punished, but I would never raise a hand to them or harm them in any way. You ask me if I were God would I create Hell, consider what kind of parent would condemn their own child to torture and damnation. I would then ask, who's the better parent, me or a God who would create a place like Hell.

In this you have your answer.

If I were a God I would not create such a punishment, and as a Pagan I do not believe Gods did either. Even the vilest of criminals did not sin eternally, therefor it is unjust that he should be punished eternally. If person has done wrong penance is appropriate, but it must be balanced to the offense(s). Any just punishment can eventually be compassed, and the truly repentant can eventually be redeemed, otherwise there is no justice in the multi-verse.

when most of us were very young and our Fathers made their authority known what did we do?, well the truth is that most of us obeyed even if we could not understand the situation.
their comes a time in adulthood when we have to accept also that God has complete dominion over us and not adopt a child`s attitude to His authority, but be humble enough to admit that even if we cannot work it all out then at least we should allow that God knows what He is doing.
I have come to believe that we choose Hell ourselves by our continual sin and lack of love and respect for God and our fellow man, if we live in a state of selfishness on earth then when we die I think that we ourselves will fully know that we do not belong in Gods domain, and the state of being away from God for eternity is Hell, and there is no love at all in selfish Hell.

I am not God, nor will I ever compare myself to Him. I know HIS ways are JUST. And I know HE is holy and perfect- something we as humans ARE not, some things we cannot comprehend, for God says in Isaiah- My ways are not your ways, nor my thoughts your thoughts-

I trust the Lord. And there is punishment for sin- I do not wish anyone to go there, that is why I want them to know the love of Jesus Christ. But those who reject Him will be cast out- and I that is something I do understand- that sin separates man from God forever. God is sinless and Holy- and He is giving us a free gift of salvation through Him. He doesnt have to do that- and that right there is MERCY and COMPASSION. If your child cussed at you and said they hated you and never obeyed you- would you say "oh well, they can do what they want" --NO! I hope not! I think you would want to discpline them- and show them their sin!
Because THAT IS LOVE- when you love someone so much you do not want to see them grow up to be that kind of person....

Well since I would be all powerful, everyone would be under my control in one way or another, so if I don't like the way someone is, I just change him/her to be nice and fuzzy with a snap of my fingers. No need to waste money on buying a hell.

I'd send all the @$$holes to Hell, the bad people who rape, brutally murder, molest kids, blow themselves up in my name. I wouldn't care if people believed in me because I know I'm real.

Funny thing though, this could be seen as a metaphor for dictatorship...
EG: Stalin (god) sends the dissidents, non-believers to hell (Gulag concentration camps in Siberia)

Hell is just the grave of souls why do you listen to church traditions. God is love. If anyone thinks God tortures people then maybe they are sick.
