I have bad credit and want to pay some off. My credit score is like 493 now and i know by paying off some debts that my score will go up, but how long does that take?

If you pay the debts off it will have positive effect but not substancial and definately not quickly.

If you really want to improve your credit:

1st pay off your debts in full or settle them for less then you owe.

2nd: Dispute the negative items.

pay it asap... no use paying interest .. otherwise also if you regularly pay the min amount due... you do not have to worry about credit scorees
