I changed my answer.
Because God is hard to understand so he needs to be represented by something that is tangible so that we could in hopes someday understand the untangible.
Romans 1:19-23
[19] Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
[20] For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
[21] Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
[22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
[23] And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
It says here the glory of God is NOT TO BE MADE INTO AN IMAGE.....MAN..birds..ect.
In the Bible...man represents the spirit, woman represent the soul...they are one flesh. So then the man would then also represent God.

Basic theology will tell you God has no gender. The Bible refers to Him as male simply because that is the default gender in any language.
It's kind of like how a co-ed fraturnity is always a fraturnity and never a sorority.
You're attacking sexism in the language and not in the Bible here.

This is the result of the poverty of human language, in that we cannot refer to God as an 'it'. Since the father is head of the household, it follows that God should be referred to as a father figure.

If you go back far enough in history, you will find that religion used to be based on a Matriarch, not a Patriarch. Soon the circle will turn and we will again recognize the Mother Earth and give Her proper respect.

this variety of declare presumes that every person isn't able to performing morally or ethically without faith. that's a thoroughly fake concept. Having a particular ethical compass has greater to do with being area of a society than believing in a particular faith. i be attentive to that as an atheist, I firmly have confidence that that's erroneous to thieve, cheat, homicide, rape, lie, etc. specifically simply by fact those acts reason harm to others and that i've got confidence that's is truthfully incorrect to harm others except they pose a particular and drawing close hazard to the well being of myself or others. EDIT i don't understand why people presume the masses could act in an immoral and/or damaging vogue without faith. the certainty is that maximum people left to their own instruments are going to act of their maximum suitable pursuits. Even without faith, the final individual be attentive to which you do maximum suitable to handle others properly.

So who made it your priority to question?
Your synopsis makes zero rationale.
Religion did not make God a Father figure.
He did.
