Erudite....Your question is based on a false premise. Have a little faith.

This whole area has been chaotic for centuries - we have only be there for a few years and our accomplishments have been pretty impressive. The vast majority of key players who ascribe to this radical faction of hatred have been captured or killed and a free election has been held. The Iraqi militia continues to train and grow and participate in many of the operations to rid this country of these Islamic factions that continue their tactics of terror and murder.
Hopefully, a democratic country in this region will help stabilize and secure this powder keg so the people can live in peace with a government that answers to them - instead of the other way around.

If only the media would be genuine in their "fair and balanced" reporting, perhaps our optimism would be a little improved.

It's not although both the New York and Los Angeles Times are pushing that it is a lost cause. Over 2/3 of the objectives have been met. Iraq has a democratically elected government, the amount of police and soldiers that the U.S. thinks need to be trained will be trained by the end of this year and 50% of Iraq will have been handed over to the Iraq's government by the end of this year. Also 1,000 projects have or are being built including schools, utilities, hospitals and police stations.

It is not lost just made more difficult by an administration that won't admit the made a mistake and change strategy and the American voter who expects and easy win at 1/2 the price.

because Iraq is only one peice of a much larger puzzle. If we lose there we will have to fight somewhere else. Hell we will have to no matter what happens to iraq.

Beco Its not a American national interests war, Its an Israeli lobby war. Do you need a more clear lost cause than this. But wait you may have Iran lost cause soon.

G'day Erudite,

Thank you for your question.

I don't think that Iraq is a lost cause. It requires different strategy which appears to be developing.

Regards

its not a lost cause. A end might not be in view yet, but our troops will come home when Iraq finishes training their own.

Because just like here the borders weren't secured. This allows people who want to join the war to come and go as they please.

The war is not a lost cause. But the lack of affirmative progress is dragging it out.
