Don't get plasma. You may need a new one in 3 years. LCD will last longer.

From what I've seen recently, I'd go with an LCD system.

DLP systems have quite a lot of angle sensitivity, especially vertically. Just stand in front of one and then vary your viewing height. You'll see big changes in brightness/contrast. Depending on how much you have it on, you'll also have to replace the lamp in 2 or 3 years at $200+.

Plasmas are nice, but so far they only go to 768 pixels vertical resolution. Lots of screen reflection too if you have a bright room.

I saw a Sony Bravia 40 inch XBR2 recently at Circuit City and was completely blown away. Fed by an HDTV DVR, it was incredibly sharp. Of course it was also almost $3000.

In terms of plasma vs. lcd, you need to decide which qualities are most important to you: rich accurate color and good viewing angles (plasma wins in these areas); or brightness and crispness of picture (LCD wins here). Also, no one but you can decide which particular set will meet your specific needs. To that end, you can take a test at this site: http://www.thedigitalbeat.com/tvtest.html to determine which plasma or lcd HDTV is best for you. Good luck!

I went to Best Buy and got a tv and he broke it all down for me but for a basic jist, plasma is great for deep rich colors but as far as the best out there, colors are good but clarity is better. Any HD tv with DLP would be the best choice. You can have up to 3 chips from Texas instruments for the picture, it will catch fast frame video (action scenes) a lot clearer without lag. If the picture goes bad, all there is to replace is a bulb. Real simple. I personally have a Samsung HD with DLP. I just got an HD reciever from Direct tv, perfecto. It looks great. Stores usually put the tvs on Discovery HD because it looks the best.

My only choice would be DLP. Go and compare those to the LCDs and Plasmas at one of the big stores, and look VERY closely at the pixelization. DLP looks more like a photograph.
