Its just a different type of Laser dvd player. Its based upon a blue laser dvd player rather than a red laser. Blue laser is smaller on the frequency side then red so the bluray disc can old more info than regular dvd's

they are HD DVD's designed to be played on a $1000 blue-ray player
they are not hot yet, they are too $$, they are in a PS3 though. They are regular Movies
