Depends on the circumstances.
Do you want him out of your life because of...
(a) The nature of what he did that hurt you?
or
(b) His behaviour has changed your opinion of him as a future partner or friend.
If it's (a) then you need to decide whether his behaviour was sufficiently thoughtless, cruel, intentional etc to warrant (b).
If (a) does not lead to (b) then you need to allow yourself sometime to clear your thoughts. This "time" may allow you to view the situation in a more objective light.
Decisions made when hurt or emotional etc are often irrational or driven by defence mechanisms.
Having said all that my real opinion is........... Givehim the elbow!

I don't believe it's rude at all. Certainly if there were positive things in the relationship that would enhance your life, it may be beneficial to maintain some level of communication. But if the hurt is so deep that continuing would cause more harm than good, by all means, sever the ties. "Rude" implies an effect you may have on others. Take care of yourself and find someone who deserves you--someone who enhances you and someone who complements who and what you are. Don't worry what other people may or may not think. Be good to YOU, first.

No it isn't rude-it is your choice whether or not you want contact with your ex. If he hurt you then it may be even more reason to spend some time with no contact.

You may, after some time feel that you want to speak about what happened for some closure, as having unresolved issues is never a healthy thing.

No way and who cares if it is...He's your ex and you have absolutely no obligations to him especially if he did something to really hurt you. If you're still enduring pain because of him, what good is him being in your life going to do? I think that time heals all wounds and that also distancing yourself from the source of your pain will help you to move on and realize that you are better off not having him in your life. Good luck and take care:)

Why would you worry about being rude to your x especially after hurting you. Obviously he didn't care enough about you. I don't know you, but I do know he's not worth your time and any part in your life. Don't give him another chance to hurt you again.

No, it's not rude. If they hurt you, then you have every right to want them out of your life. Why relive the pain by having to face them? I hope everything works out for you.

Your ex hurt you; therefore, why would you want them in your life? Of course it will not be rude to not want them in your life.
