You did what you could for him. It is his responsibility to make an effort. If he were making the effort I'd see it differently. Sometimes some people have to hit rock bottom before they try to get it together. Some never do try. But you cannot do any more for him than you did. Continuing to shelter and feed him would be supporting his decision to do nothing for himself, you would be an enabler. In the long run you'd be doing him more harm than good

You just have to realize...some people WANT to be that way. If he's an adult....then that is his choice. By 'giving' him everything...and him doing nothing in return...that makes him a freeloader...and you an enabler. I don't mean to sound harsh...but I think you did the right thing...and I would have done exactly what you did. All you can do for him now is pray.

Far too many people these days interpret helping them as doing it for them. If someone is honestly striving to better themselves I'll be right there to back them, but if they expect to sit around doing nothing and have me support them, there's a really nice bridge about two miles away, hope they have nice walk.

You did the right thing. I had a similar situation myself. Only I did not
get the chance to remove him from the premises. He was arrested.
He has spent the last 10 months in prison. He has gotten clean.

You did the best you could help comes to those who help themselves. Remember you can take a horse to the river but you can't make him drink. I'm sorry. Don't feel guilty.

NO, he refused to look for a job, and he REFUSED to quit doing drugs. He could get a job, he could get treatment, but he won't, thus he is A freeloader.

Yes, you did the right thing... Especially if you have kids in the house. He's got to take responsibility for his life.

I would have done the same thing. There is no excuse for being lazy and not working. Every one should pull their own weight.
I assume this person is not a minor

Yes, you did the right thing. He will have to hit rock bottom before he knows he needs help.
Pray for him.
