NO!
Anesthesia causes nausea, the dog may vomit while unconscious and choke. The vets should have told you to withhold food after 8 PM the night before and water after 11PM.

Never feed any animal before having a local or general anaesthic.
This is because A:-The animal might vomit.
B:-The dosage of anaesthetic is always based on the patient having an empty stomach, thus they can roughly tell how long you will be under.
Anaesthetic is very dangerous, after-all it does put you to sleep thus inhibiting your breathing the (Htpothalmis), which regulates oxygen intake.

You shouldn't feed your dog the morning of surgery; pull her food tonight before you go to bed (midnight at the latest). There is a reason for this - sometimes the drugs we give dogs to sedation so that they can be tubed for surgery make them nauseous. The sedative will suppress the reflex that keeps vomit from going into the lungs, and the dogs can aspirate and have serious problems. If the belly is empty, the dog is (obviously) less likely to produce vomit, and therefor it's safer. She can, however, have small amounts of water throughout the night.
Good luck with your girlie!

When my husky was spayed, I discontinued feeding after 10pm the night before. She was allowed water though. It's just best to do that because there is a possibility the drugs can make the dog nauseous during surgery and it's just something else they need to worry about.
She will be ok! :)

No, nothing at all from the night before an op, just water. Food before an operation will make them very sick following anaesthetic.

Hello., i just had my puppy spayed, and you are not to feed them a whole day before the surgery, water is fine but no solids it can cause them to throw up and possibly choke during surgery, if you furry friend does end up munching tell your vet, they will usually do you pet last to give them time to digest so there is less worry of comlications.

Most vets tell you not to give any food or water for about 10-12 hours prior to surgery. So probably when you get ready for bed take its food and water away for the night.

No.
The reason is that under anesthetic it is more likely that they will throw up and some of the stomach acid will find its way down the wrong tube and into the lungs. This can be life threatening.

Your dog shouldn't eat anything for at least 12 hours before her operation. She can drink tonight but you must take her water away from he rin the morning.
