I mean why would one want to molest/abuse a child, cheat on a spouse or mate, be deceitful, steal from someone, gossip about someone that can hurt them, manipulate to get their way, be dishonest, basically anything that would hurt someone in a negative way...? Whats the point you may ask? Well what is the purpose of arguing over what religion is true or the right one when really we should focus on treating each other right, dont do harm to your neighbor, family, or friends oh and co workers. I mean I think that is a principle that we all can live by... oh and guess what that's what it says in the Bible...Love God, love others as you would yourself. For those that dont believe in God is this something that you would consider if it only meant that, that was all you are to do? None of the you should do this, that and the other...just be nice to each other.
Just curious if most that dont believe because there are too many laws that man impose on society...

Many do not know the seriousness of sin. That is why God has His Law- now it is a mirror to show people they have sinned against Him- and that they need a Savior and need forgiveness. This is only through Jesus Christ- He is the only way, truth and life- John 14:6

Everyone has sinned against God- even if they think what they are doing is not sin- it is in God's eyes and He will judge- That is why the gospel needs to be spread throughout the world- so that people can be broken of sin- see how ugly it is- see how serious it is- and to see how it separtes them from God for eternity.

But God gave us Jesus Christ- a free gift out of His grace- so that those who believe in Him, will have eternal life! Praise be to Him!

Romans 5:21
so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:9
For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.

Romans 6:10
The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

I live a moral life because my conscience would not allow me to do otherwise. I don't believe in God, and can't fake belief, for the same reason. As for the reasons why I don't believe, the whole concept does not make sense to me. And I find religion, on the whole, to be just an appalling mess.

Most people believe that they do not commit sin. Sin is disobedience to God's will and his Word. We sin daily, which is why we need to renew ourselves daily in Christ. Those of us who are Christians need only be saved once, but salvation does not guarantee a sin-free life. As long as we are in the world we are subject to temptation. Fortunately we have a God that is just to forgive us.

I don't believe in god because god doesn't make sense as he's defined and has absolutely no empirical evidence - and never will.

That's not what Jesus says. Jesus says you have to hate everyone. See? It says so - Luke 14:26

" 26"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple."

I'm good for the sake of being good.

I think the misconception is in the forgiveness of sin.
Most protestant churches teaches all you have to do is ask for forgiveness, and it's there.

That is why sin is abundant amongst protestants.
They are not aware that retribution, council, reconciliation, remorse, apology and other things are required. Depending on the severity of the sin of course.

I dont think we need religions to tell us what sin really is...we are very smart, so why are we always searching for a higher power.? just live your life the best you can, and treat others the way you would like to be treated....thats all (thats heaven on earth)

Most people know what sin is.
It is inherent in all humans....
It is a corrupt heart of man hich despises God's authority and His laws.

It is man's tendency to side with evil and against the law of God.

Jesus is the solution to sin.

My husband is a pastor and we believe that sin is anything that separates you from God. People who do unthinkable acts are mentally ill and need help. We all need forgiveness, which we get from a loving God who only asks that we believe in him.

You have a sound argument going, but I sort of lost you along the God-topic. Why don't you be the principle you wish everyone to emulate?
