I'm not a very good cook, probably because I'm just too little. I tried to make my own broth for some ramen noodles, but it was too spicy. I put in around 1 cup of water, 2/8 cups ground black pepper, around 1/8 cup of cinnamon sugar, some salt, 1/4 cup of parsley, a clemintine slice, I ground up a handful of shelled peanuts, a dash of chili powder, a half of one of those dry noodles that come in ramen noodle packets, and that's as much as I remember. I think I put in too much pepper, but I'm not sure. Do you have any idea what it might be?

I didn't put the original spice packet that came with it into it. I was trying to make my own.

and I wasn't using cinnamon, I was using cinnamon sugar. It's way different. It tastes like the smell of a cinnamon stick pretty much.

My guess is the ground black pepper. That's usually used in fractions of teaspoons. So that's way too much by most standards.

None us were born good cooks, but keep trying, you'll get better.

Is that two eigth cup black pepper? As in a quarter cup of black pepper? In one cup of water?.. Ouch... Ouch...

First you need to understand that Black Pepper is not actually in the pepper family. The hot in Black Pepper is actually pain, so it doesn't surprize me that this broth hurts...

It sounds to me like you were trying to emulate a thai flavor, and Black pepper is not the best route... Next time try red pepper or white. You'll be more pleased with the results...

Even so, back the volume down by about half - Red pepper mind you - and you'll be pleasantly surprized. It'll still be spicy, but the flavor will be wonderful.

You might also consider adding a bit of vinegar. No more than an eighth cup. White vinegar if you have nothing else...

Replace the salt with Soy sauce. You can collect packets from restraunts if you get take out often enough...

Either way, you're on your way to being a great chef. The secret is learning the taste of food ant knowing what tastes good... After that it's just trying new things...

WOOOH!!! I would think that is too spicy. First, you should have left the salt out because the packet that it comes with has enough salt. You actually don't have to spice it up too much. You could use FEW dashes of pepper, NO CINNAMON (that makes it spicier), parsley is OK, and a dash of chili powder. That's about all you need. But you definitely don't need to add anymore salt to it.

Yes, way too much pepper. Unless you're making a HUGE dish, you should never have to measure pepper in cups. use teaspoons next time. 1 tsp, or less should be plenty for 1 cup water.

To much pepper try half that amount or wait until it is cooking and add the pepper tasting until you get the right spice.

i dunno, i love spicey stuff, so, all i can say, is that it was just to much pepper... try 2 table spoons instead, thats how much i use for my recipe, exept mine is for two people... but i also use fresh chili's in it.
