Ok, so I'm new to the company and the other day I wanted to make popcorn to have as a snack. I walk to the microwave in the kitchen wiht the bag of popcorn in my hand. One of my coworkers was washing dishes right underneath the microwave, so I stood on the side with the bag of popcorn VISIBLY in my hand people! There were a few other coworkers sitting down having a late lunch and every single one of them saw me standing there. So I after a min or two the coworker washing the dishes is done and I put the bag in the microwave and walk away to get some water. After a minute I smell something burning, and one of my coworkers eating lunch casually says "this microwave doesn't make popcorn, it only burns it". So I run back and find the bag deflated and burned, and of course just throw it out and walk out angry. Wouldn't a decent person tell their coworker not to put the popcorn in before hand?

They should have told you before hand. They are rude.

Never heard of a microwave that won't make popcorn. You just have to watch it and not let it burn. Since microwaves are different, put the bag in for three minutes, then three and a half, etc. until you get it right.

Your coworkers sound rude and unpleasant. Not fun to work with and will more then likely make your job really dull and unhappy for you. If you can ignore them and just go to work and do your job then you will have it made. But if you want to be happy going to work and make friends you should look for another job. I would not want to work with people who acted like that and id probably quit and find a job with better staff unless its worth it to hang in there. Weve all been there im sure, and sticking it out might improve things, or it may not..do you really want to spend the majority of your days with people who are toxic and miserable? Dont take it personally their lives probably suck so they want to make others misereable too.

Chill out and stop whinning. I don't think they make a microwave that would burn popcorn in a minute. Your just mad because your not getting enough attention from your coworkers.

Maybe the co-workers wern't paying much attention. But yes something should be posted saying not to put certain things in the microwave because it won't cook.

I'm sorry but some people aren't really paying attention to someone who just walks in and does not take the time to talk to anyone. If you are in a new office than take time to talk to people before you just assume they will watch your food for you. No they were not being rude but you were.

Yes. The problem with working in the corporate world is that you find few decent people to work with. That's why I gave it up for the ministry.

Why get angry, now you know what kind of people you work with. The kind who aren't going to warn you of anything but will let you find out things for yourself and on your own.
So you wasted some popcorn, no sweat, bring pretzles next time.

Yep, the polite thing to do would have been to say something. It was pretty crappy of them to sit there, watch you do it, and basically laugh in your face that your snack was burned.

it would be polite to show/tell the new person all the little idiosynchrasies of working somewhere....but i'd suggest you give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they really didn't see you with the popcorn or they just didn't think about it......

Hm... it IS rude and if I were you, I'd scream at these people. However, I'm from Asia and things like this is common, expected, the norm.
If you are from Asia then just take the ****.
If you are not, then you should scream their bleddy heads off!
