Are you talking about the homemade kind or the canned? If homemade..I am not sure..maybe not enough cream added..if canned condensed..try using milk instead of water to make it.

The ingredients probably exude moisture. What I do is add some instant potatoes to thicken the soup back up. Nobody ever knows in a cream soup.

They separate from the liquids because the base of cream hardens, I like to use flour as a thickener.
