Atheist philosophy is philosophical, not scientific or deity centered. Philosophy is distinct from religiosity AND science.

Deity-centered - namely, that they don't believe in such a deity. That's all that's required to be an atheist.

Not all atheists are big into science - surprisingly enough. You don't have to be enraptured with science to be an atheist - all you need is the lack of belief.

Atheist philosophy is pointedly NOT deity-centered, since they don't believe any deity to exist. What they focus their individual philosophies on is their individual preference.

define science

the scientific method a la Fransis Bacon would allow theism

in modern times 'science' often means the assumptions of naturalism+ the scientific method

so the problem is in modern times origins science often drags the baggage of philosophical naturalism allong with kind like a trojan horse

i am an atheist, and i am focused on humanity. making the world a better place for my children. the problem i have with religion is it's fanaticism. too many theist either want to use force to make everyone believe as they do, or they just sit back and figure their god is going to make everything alright so they do nothing to improve man kinds fate themselves.

No, science is simply a tool we human being use to understand the world around us. Just like a man uses reading glasses to read with, would it be logical to worship a pair of glasses? Is it logical to worship the laws of gravity? Maybe respect them, but not worship them.

science is not a religion either, it is just a method of thinking. That is why it is called the scientific method.
