Hi there, It is not illegal to unlock it. That is the answer to your question.
If you unlock it, you may negate any guarantee or service agreement.
Some players actually have switchable jumpers (controls) for different regions. If your manual tells you how to do it - you are still within your rights to do so, no matter what guarantee or service agreement you have.

I dont think so. I think you should have the choice which region dvd you buy (cheaper price etc) and if you have an old dvd player you dont throw it away just because it doesnt play region 4 for example. Just 4 years ago I wouldnt know that multiregional dvd players exist!

No but if you buy a Brand of player called Pacific they will play anything even a beer mat!

Buy one from Asia....

They will play anything. If they didn't, nobody there would dare buy it.

They will always do what the market will withstand. And if they [film industry / legislators] can make money by means of restricting what titles you can watch, and when they are released per region, then so be it.

no I don't think so as there is stuff in the shops that enable you to watch other region dvd's on players!

no it is not illegal. remember to put it back to the original setting if it needs to be repaired under guarantee

No its your DVD and you can do what you want with it.But your guarantee ends once you modify it,any repairs now you pay for.

It's not illegal, but if you do it while it's under guarantee, you will void the guarantee.
