Almost anything that claims it helps prevent blemishes contains salicylic acid. Just check out the labels when your in the "Noxzema, oxy, Clearasil Isle". This crap really dries your face out though. I have had acne problems ever since I was a young teenager until I tried something totally different. I bought a face tanning lamp. I use it for about eight minutes once a week and my face has never looked more healthy and clear. It was about 180.00 but worth every penny. I wish I had it in high school.

You are correct that solutions containing various acidic substances are quite useful for a variety of dermatologic conditions although they are not as commonly used today since better agents have become available. To my knowledge although these remain available by prescription I do not believe that they are available over the counter or online due to concerns that excessive exposure might cause damage to the skin and if you do find them they are likely to be too dilute to do much good.

Salicylic acid is related to aspirin (which is acetylsalicylic acid). Salicylic acid is the active ingredient in many cosmetic and skin-care products - just go to any pharmacy and check the ingredients listed on the label.

This product did not work at all for me. Perhaps my acne did not respond to this body wash due to my specific body/acne type, but I did wash with it for a month, and saw no change. My back and frontal acne is quite heavy, so perhaps that is why I did not see positive results. The smell also leaves much to be desired.

I have tried a lot of products, and this does a good job of getting rid of minimal body acne. I use it with a pouf to get the suds that I like, and I like the thickness of it. With the design of the bottle, you can just squeeze out the gel or turn it upside down. Some people don't like the smell, but I don't notice the smell at all.

This does a decent job on my "bacne", and the price is right. I use exfoliating gloves with it to get my skin even smoother, and that somewhat improved its effectiveness. I used to use the Body Clear Body Lotion with the wash, but Neutrogena discontinued it. I will continue to use this, but I am open to something more effective on the large pimples.
