I live in England, there was a documentary on the other day about muslims living in this country. Apparently 6 out of 10 muslims are offended by how we live our lives over here.

The majority of the muslims do not want to integrate themselves within our society, and some have actually said publicly that they would like the country run under sharia law.

I think they make themselves incompatible with mainstream society.

Not if they are practicing correctly. Some don't understand that violence is strictly prohibited. There is nothing that says they should not tolerate others views or that women or inferior (matter of fact it says the opposite). I have had many Muslim friends and it never occurred to me when we first met that they were Muslim.
America has many different religions and we should all respect one and others; view. That is after all why America was created; Freedom of choice and religious belief.

I think that's like asking are Jews incompatible with mainstream American society? Asking if any religion is compatible with America, should be an oxymoron (though it seems some have other views).

That's a sort of loaded question. What do you mean by this anyway? Are you asking if someone covers themselves head to toe are they compatible with mainstream American society? Well, they could be. In fact they could get their own sitcom, though it would either be extremely hilarious and create world harmony, or extremely bad and not funny and create worldwide havoc. I'd go with the latter. But as for their religious beliefs? Why would that matter? Mainstream American society simultaneously believes in gay marriage and abolishes gay marriage, they want no abortions and at the same time freedom to choose to abort. So the question is, what is not compatible with mainstream american society?

Hmmmmm...murder, death, kill???

Except of course in Slyvester Stalone movies. Then it is compatible.

Absolutely not.

I believe a person can be a devout Muslim and be compatible with most aspects of Western society. As a devout Christian, there is much of American culture that I loathe, so I avoid these things. But this doesn't mean I can't be part of society. Such is the case with devout Muslims.

Peace.

Like any religious extremist group their doctrine is to convert the world to their way of thinking, much like the early Christians and Catholics did with the Native Americans and the Mexicans.
Remember the Hale Bop comet group that committed suicide?
I once saw a bumper sticker that read, " So many idiots, so few comets!!"

nationalities for the most part are compatible or could be compatible, some religions seem not to be. The muslims want the rest of the world to conform to their ways. I feel while they are in America they should conform to American society and not try to change it. I also believe they should not try to destroy it.

As a Muslim, I was born and raised in the states...and I'm able to fully practice my religion without any issues. I pray, fast, do all my religious duties without problems. However, if you mean by wearing swimsuits, clubbing, dancing, drinking, having sex before marriage as mainstream, then NO we cant do any of those things. Our religion teaches modesty and doing what alot of what american society does is not what we can do. But living here in America, working, going to school, the basic stuff is doable.
