I recently broke up with someone and am going through reasons why I might want to date someone (I don't know who) in the future. From your personal experience, what are good and bad reasons for wanting to date someone?

Good reasons would be: Because you are ready to start over, ready to open your heart again to someone else. Bad reasons would be: To get even, hurt the ex. Because whoever you get involved with has feelings too.
My best advice is to give yourself time to heal, grieve for your loss and go through the acceptance period. Only then will you be in a position to make better choices. Know you are doing this because you are ready, not because you are spiteful, scared of being alone. Then you'll have a netter chance of building a healthy happy relationship in the future.

Good reasons to date someone..... anyone.
You are looking for a little fun in your life, you are wanting to get out and meet new people, make some friends as well as a potential partner. Because you are feeling the 'togetherness' feelings and want someone and are ready to share with someone.
Bad reasons to date someone..... anyone.
For looks, looking for a rebound, so that your not lonely anymore, or for their reputation, or to make you feel better about yourself, or because you need a date for a function and don't or won't go alone. To just have sex.

Good reasons: She is fun. She likes things you like. Easy to talk to. Friendly, kind, easy going. Or some combination of a person you could enjoy being around.
Bad: Good looking. Has a reputation for being 'easy'. (that could be a guy wishful thinking and spread it around, but it should not be THE reason you go out with her)
She is in with the 'in' crowd. Nice car, has money, upper class, will give you prestige....all that stuff.
Last but not least: she is just a replacement for your last girl.

surely the only reason TO date someone is if you like them. there shouldnt be any other reasons. never date for money or status or if your on the rebound. dating is fun, just get there date lots of people, see what happens

dating is only preparing your self for a relationship... its like window shopping my friend..not a bad thing at all...just be up front that you are only looking to have a good time
