I have a SONY audio/video surround sound system. One day I was blasting some music and all of the sudden "PROTECT" started flashing. Ever since then it hasn't worked. I opened it up and the one fuse I saw still seemed to be good. What could be the problem?

Any advice would be really great.

And if it helps any, its model number is: str-d565

THANKS

Is there a reset button or a fuse or something that I'm missing? There's gotta be something.

You said the fuse seems to be good, you need to remove the fuse and run a contenuity test on it, in plain english make sure it's good. I had an Onkyo receiver that had two fuses for the power supply, you can check into that also.

i dont know your whole situation, ie what speakers your running off of it, but it seems like the reciever just couldnt handle the volume, and fried. no offense but thats what happens when you buy Sony. dont try to fix it, cut your looses and learn from what has happend. then stop going to best buy and circit city, and go to a private audio store. one that sells a brand called Marantz. there not the most expensive recievers in the world, but there very very good quality. i think the base 5.1 modle starts at around $400. you might also try ebay. if you have speakers that can handle about 100 watts of true power, it will sound great. if not, then your speakers will probably blow. you might want to think about a whole new quality system. quality being the key word. cause this will happen again if you buy cheap crap.

i know the truth hurts, and this was not the answer you were looking for, but its time to face the music before you wind up waisting more money.
