i need a tactful way to tell my brother not to buy walmart gift cards for my kids x-mas presents this year, with out assuming that's what he's buying or if he's buying anything at all!

You didn't tell us why it is you don't want your brother to do this. Unfortunately, there is no tactful way to tell your brother your preferences, because gifts are voluntary, and coercion is bad manners. If he asks, you are free to tell him what your children do want, rather than what you don't want.

Ooo, this one is different. Does he usually buy for the kids? If so, maybe just in conversation someday, try to steer it towards Christmas and then if successful get it around to want the kids enjoy and maybe throw in a few names of games, toys or whatever that they are wanting. Hope this helps and good luck.

why cant you just be grateful for a gift? if you don't want them to have it donate them to people that could use it.
