Hypothetically if Judas didn't betray Jesus, Jesus would have still gone through what He did, but at anothers hands. Judas was just a small part in the grander scheme of things. Jesus' death was planned out before Judas part was integrated into it. They would have found another way. The salvation of mankind did not rest on the shoulders of Judas.

This question is very interesting. The problem that I have with it is the 'have to die' part. If God is All-Powerful, then He makes the rules. Under that theory, Jesus did not 'have to die.' God could have just as easily accepted all of His children, regardless of what they had done. The Bible says that He did not do this, but instead required a sacrifice (and this brings up the question as to whether God accepts human sacrifice or not, and why this is desirable). God, according to the Bible, chose to make that requirement. The real question is, why not make another system whereby even more souls could be accepted? Why not accept Muslims, and Buddhists, and Gnostic's and even (gasp) Atheists? As for Judas, he was not a villain. He killed himself after betraying Christ because he loved Jesus, and felt guilty. While I do not like suicide, I believe that here he shows his love for Christ, and his feeling of remorse at having betrayed a friend.

Yes, Jesus had to die to create the forgiveness for a sinful word. He was the spotless lamb, metophorically speaking. Judas was not the bad guy everyone makes him out to be. It states in the New Test that "the devil entered Judas". Therefore he had a form of possession that made him do what he did. That is why he felt remorse and gave the 30 pieces of silver back and impaled himself(back in biblical times they didn't hang themselves as the movies show us...it was not a common way of suicide. When they say he hung himself in the bible and his entrails spilled out...it meant he put a long pole on the ground and jumped from a higher point and impaled himself....and hung there).
Therefore Judas was a victim, in my opinion.

I think this is a great example that even those who were friends to the Lord, in person, still didn't always have faith. The prophecy HAD to come true, becuase it was Gods will and it was what needed to happen. Judas was greedy, and selfish and lacked truth faith. If it wasn't Judas, it could have been someone else, but it WAS Judas, Jesus WAS crucified, he rose again, and went through it all with you on the mind, so that you can be his friend, and live with Him in your heart.

I guess you'll want to read a good book about predestination. God knows everything including the decisions that we will make. He gave us a free will to choose Him or choose Death for eternity. He does not interfere with our free will although he desires that we all be saved because he desires our friendship. He knew that Judas would betray Him and so he chose to live at a time and place where Judas also would be at. Judas was never really interested in Christ. He thought that by following Christ he would one day be rich. He was greedy. He did not understand that Christ's Kingdom was not of this world. When God created Adam and Eve he knew ahead of time what the outcome would be and that he would send His only Son to die on a Cross. The sin of Adam and Eve brought misery and suffering into the world. God would not expect us to suffer in this world if He himself wasn't also willing to suffer...a very cruel death. In the 1970's there was a very famous exorcism done on a woman in Finland. It took 6 priests and several years to deliver this woman. She was possessed by by many demons who were of the angelic order of "Thrones." She was also possessed by Judas Iscariot who is damned. You read about this exorcism by doing a google search under the words "Warnings from Beyond."

Because of sin, we are witnesses of the reality of sin and what it does. That is why God had to die to redeem us and he will come again and save us and rid the universe of sin, sinners and the devil Satan forever.
Before there was sin, no one knew really what it was it was just a bad thing. But sooner or later it would arise and Lucifer initiated it and therefore in God's infinite wisdom sin is allowed to be played out so that the character of God will be seen and that all the warning before was warranted.
Sin will never again rare its ugly head because God will not allow it again and we wont either because we see what it causes.
Even God had to pay for sin by the death of His only son, which was no ordinary death - no man or woman on earth every had that death - he died for the world everybody who died already died for themself.
Judas did not have betray Jesus the Bible even says cursed is he who betrays the son of God. Judas had a chance to repent and he did not, you see that from his attitute when he went back to priest after he saw how they were treating Jesus, he threw the money back at them and went and hung himself. He betrayed Jesus in the hope that Jesus would have escaped by supernatural means just like when the mob was bringing Jesus to cast him off the monuntain and he disappeared from them, or maybe he was hoping that they would just ruff up Jesus a bit and let him go. Either way he was hoping to get the money and still have Jesus escaped death somehow, when he realized that that would not happen...

That's kind of the same thing as Adam and Eve - Eve is always condemned for eating the apple, but if she hadn't, they wouldn't have been able to reproduce and the human race wouldn't exist. So she had to eat the apple. I think of these two instances - Eve eating the apple and Judas betraying Jesus - in the same way. To "transgress" means to step over. Both Eve and Judas transgressed - they crossed a line that had to be crossed in order for God's plan to be fullfilled.

Jesus died in vain if his death was to save mankind from sin. We are living in more sin now.
I agree with you on the whole Judas thing too. I think that Judas was the hero not Jesus.

no, but it makes a great story line. Hmmmm, I wonder if Judas's sins were forgiven by Jesus's death on the cross. And hey, do you think when Jesus descended into hell to take the keys to the kingdom back from Satan he saw Judas and said, "hey, whats up bub?" And Judas said, "forgive me Lord" and Jesus said, sure, why not, that's kind of what I do. that would make a great addition to the story.

Why bother asking the question? Jesus DID die for our sins. Judas DID betray Him for thirty pieces of silver in an unfortuante turn of events and mankind CAN be redeemed by thbe blood that Christ shed that day!
